Long have I toyed with the idea of writing a book on Eastern Orthodoxy. I wanted to do it last year but ran into several practical difficulties:
- Besides an obvious critique, what would make my book different from simply another restatement of Reformed theology?
- I appreciated Bruce McCormack’s critique of Anchorite Christology, but I never could appropriate that in a full-orbed way. Doing so would move me in dangerous waters, so I didn’t wade in.
- I have finally found a model that incorporates traditionalist conclusions while being sympathetic to what McCormack was aiming at.
In other words, I have begun my book on Orthodoxy.
